Almost there

We left Golden at 7am this morning and holy cow the roads were horrible!!! There had been a 3 semi accident overnight and the semi trucks still sat on the side of the road. They were alternating one lane of traffic at a time. We sat for about 45 min stopped completely about 50 kms in. BUT we are now in Merritt. There was no snow in Salmon Arm and there is no snow and the sun is shining in Merritt. There is a road advisory from Merritt to Vancouver and they are not recommending driving. However, Iwe are continuing!!!! I miss my cats ad Yuki!!!!

Stuck in Golden

Sure enough, we are stuck in Golden. We paid $80 for a hotel. It's not a great hotel, but the great ones were $150+. So here we sit. The town is getting busier as we watch out the window. They say the roads will open at 5pm... We will get up early tomorrow morning and drive til dark!!! I just want to go home!!!

On our way home

It's 8am and we are almost in Golden. The roads are treacherous!!!! Tons of snow fell over night and apparently the highway is closed between Golden and Revelstoke due to avalanche warning. Hopefully it's not closed all day!! We were hoping to get to Kamloops tonight. However better safe than sorry!!!

Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas Eve in my most favorite place... BANFF!!!! We walked around, did some window shopping, and of course went for a pint at The Rose and Crown. We made it back to Canmore in time to hit the grocery and liquor store, and home we went for the night!! Hope Santa comes!!!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone!!! What a day it has been!! We got up at around 8:30am and of course had a cup or two of coffee and baileys. Brooks cooked up some delicious omlettes for each of us. At around noon we all decided "let's go for a hike". So we got all dressed in our warm gear and off we went. The snow was coming down hard but it is so warm. It was like being in a snow globe!!! It was icy out there so we had bets on who would be the first one on the ground. Unfortunately it was ME!!! I slipped and down I went on my tailbone. OUCH!!! I layed there awhile as the laughter erupted.....I got up and walked it off! Next one down was mom. She was a little more graceful in her fall than I was!!!! We made it home around 3 o'clock. We made some lunch and had a Christmas beverage. We are now preparing dinner. Stuffed salmon with potatoes and veggies of some sort. All in all a very good Christmas Day!!!!!

The trip goes on...

We took of for a day and night in Calgary yesterday. One of my best friends lives there with her fiancé and I had to have a visit!!! We met at around 4, went back to their house for dinner and a few drinks and off to bed we all went!!!!! This morning it was a quick cup of coffee and an "until next time" hug and we were off back to Canmore. We met my folks at a pub "The Drake" for a few drink and are now off to the house to make a lovely seafood chowder for dinner!!!! Tomorrow the four of us are spending the day in Banff. Quite a fabulous way to spend Christmas Eve I think!!!!! I love it here!!!

I love it here!!!!

We made it into Canmore at around 6 pm lastnight. It was a long day but a good day indeed! The highway was quite scary in bits but clear in other areas. We had the truck in 4 wheel for roughly 300 kms through Rogers Pass and then coming in through Banff. I couldn't believe the speed at which some people drive on those roads!!! Anyways we made it here!!! Mom had some Veggie chilli ready for us and of course 2 icy cold Strongbows!!!! I am so happy to be in my favorite place!!! I LOVE IT HERE!!!!

On our way

We left Victoria at 11 pm yesterday heading to the mountains!!!! We met my friend Jasmine in Langley for dinner, then made it to bed around 10 o'clock. It's 5:53am right now and we are on the road. Tim Hortons in hand!!!!

A new bed

I decided to buy Yukon a new dog bed for Christmas. His old beds are old and flattened right out!! I ran into Costo and scooped one up!!! It is fluffy and smells of fresh cedar chips!! He loves it.... However so does a certain someone else (only when Yukon is outside of course!!!)

Snowfall warning

It is chilly here on the island!! There is a snowfall warning for our area and all over the mainland!!! Get the snowplow ready!!! We are hoping the snow stays away til mid afternoon today as we are working in Victoria. We will (or should) finish this job today. It's chain link so I am preparing for frozen fingers!!! However a cheque at the end of the day seems worth it. I will keep you posted on the weather!!!

Another week

So I think another week has past since I blogged. Things have been moving right along. We finished a pa el job in Victoria and started another one. We will finish that one tomorrow. The weekend was spent around home and with good friends!!! We hosted a sushi dinner lastnight and I must say.... I am still feeling full!!! It was delicious! Tonight is a movie and sit by the fire night with a cup of tea in hand. Until next time...

A great weekend

It was yet another fun filled weekend. Yesterday brooks put the finishing touches on the snow plow while I had a ME day, meeting my mom for lunch on Victoria. Today I had a hair client, and then spent the afternoon with Yukon. He likes to go to the dog park on Sundays to see all of his friends!!!
Tomorrow we start one of our two new jobs which will take us through the week. There is no snow in our forecast so we must keep on fencing!!!! I am off to bed now as 6:30 comes quickly!!! Night night

Happy Wednesday

Well it's been awhile and there really isn't too much to post. We spent last weekend in Vancouver visiting some old friends, and doing some catch up!! It was a very fun and fast time away. We are starting a small chain link job tomorrow which we will finish Friday, and a small 5 panel job for Monday. But that's it for now. The phone just isn't ringing!!! Good thing for my little salon.... It's getting us by!!! The weather has been gorgeous here on the island this week. Highs of around 7 with chilly lows of 2. No snow in sight!!!!

Sunday

Today was a fabulous day!! After working 10 hours in the salon yesterday I was pooped!!! I was sleeping by 9:30 and slept til 8 thins morning!!! We did a whole lot of nothing today, but puttering around the yard. I promised to post some pictures of my clients so here they are.....

Sunshine and snow

It's a beautiful crispy -1 here today but the sun is shining!!! It's beautiful! I have a day full of hair clients and I couldn't be more excited!!! Brooks is going to putter around the house and yard and hopefully I can convince him to take Yukon for a walk!!! I don't think I will have time. I will post some before and after photos of my clients, granted their hair turns out...... Hehehe

Another day

Well I woke up in a winter wonderland this morning!! It instantly brought a smile to my face!! I hoped out of bed, got dressed and on with my day. We went into Victoria to do a small chain link repair. We then headed back up island, snow was coming down, and we loaded the truck with our panel material. We made it home around 3, made the panels as fast as we could into the hot tub we jumped!!!! What a day!!! Brooks friend Jason came over tonight with a new "friend" and if it doesn't work out with them, I tell ya, her and I WILL be friends!!! She is a hairstylist in Campbell River. We have lots in common!!! Anyways I am off to bed now. Bootcamp tonight kicked my butt!!!! Zzzzzzzzz

It's arrived!!!

I woke up today and the first thing I thought was "ooooooo it feels like snow". Sure enough by 10 o'clock it started coming down. At first it was big beautiful chunky flakes. The kind that give you the feeling that you are caught in a snow globe. Within an hour the rain started. Heavy big drops coming straight down. Winter has arrived on the island!!!!

We finally got our wood for the panels today and will build them tomorrow and install Friday. We also have two little chain link repairs to fit in tomorrow in Victoria. I took a drive into Nanaimo this afternoon to get some more hair product for my salon. I am busy all weekend with three cut and colors. This should bring in roughly $300 or so and may also try to fit in a couple of haircuts. My mom is needing one pretty badly however I made a deal with her long ago that her cuts and colors will always be free.... Should have thought twice about that one!!!! Anyways I will be busy this weekend but I am so much looking forward to seeing some old clients of mine!! At this moment I am sitting in my salon, admiring my accomplishment of actually doing this instead of just talking about it. It feels great and I am looking forward to what this is going to bring to my life!!! Me and my salon dog Yukon!!!!

It's arrived!!!

Tuesday...

Today was a good day!! Sun was shining, people were smiling!!! We waited of now all day for a phonecall from the mill with our panel material but it just didn't come. We tidied up the yard rather than wasting time or gas going into town. It is 6:00 now and I am heading off to bootcamp!!! I go to bootcamp every Tuesday and Thursday, and do personal training every Saturday morning at 9am. It keeps me happy and feeling good about ME!! I have started a new eating program as well which consists of healthy foods. Veggies, protein, and CARBS!! I am not one to cut carbs out of my diet. I enjoy them too much and all things are okay for you in moderation!!!! Anyways I am excited for this! I must run now, bootcamp calls!!!

I'm back.... Finally!!!

So I have decided to come back to my blog. Brooks parents are on their way back to Mexico for six months and they are always interested in what we are doing!!! So here it goes..... We are starting a new job today in Fairfeild. It's a small job , but nonetheless less it is a job!! We will dig te posts today and make the panels tomorrow. It's a beautiful sunny day today but they are forecasting possible snow this week. SNOW??? I am not ready for it, however it will get me into the ski spirit!!!! Off to work we go....

The building is underway....

This morning we got up bright and early with the determintaion to start our building. We headed into Langford to go to Slegg lumber and low and behold....it was closed. Darn New Years holidays!!! Anyways we went up to Rona in Cobble Hill to get what we needed and got our building underway. Tomorrow we plan to sheet the first floor and start the floor of the second story. I think that is a bit much to hope for but we'll see.......until tomorrow

For Christmas, Brooks and I bought ourselves new sets of ski equpment. We went on our first ski trip in 4 years up to Mount Washington with Brooks kids. We had a blast!! We stayed 2 nights in Campbell River at my favorite house on the water....Brooks folks home. It was as cozy beautiful as ever! The air was crisp and at -4C but it did not stop me from my walk down to the big rock to have a look over the ocean. It was magnificent. We got up at 5am and made our way to the ski hill. It has been a busy season so we thought ahead to get there early enough for parking. We made it!!! We rented the girls skis and were on our way up the hill!! It was a wonderful way for me to end the year!! I had a blast!!!
